The "inner sanctuary" of the Kuilsriver Temple, located deep in the mountains of Mount Kuil, northwest of Kyoto. As you proceed along the approach, the hustle and bustle of the city fades away, enveloped by the green of the trees and fresh air. There, a mysterious Buddha statue called the "Guardian Demon King" is enshrined.
This Guardian Demon King is a figure from Hindu mythology, said to have been sent as a messenger from Venus to Earth 6.5 million years ago. Due to its mystical legend, it is also known as a power spot.
The inner sanctuary is also famous as a place for training warriors. The spirit of the legendary warrior Minamoto no Yoshitsune is also enshrined, making it a prestigious place known as the "demon king's dwelling". Visitors can't help but be captivated by the divine presence that floats in the silence.
After leaving the inner sanctuary, a path appears that leads to Kibune Shrine. Surrounded by the nature of Mount Kuil, you can leisurely continue your walk. It could be said to be an excellent course for enjoying the highlights of Kyoto sightseeing.
