Chotoku-ji temple in Unrin-in, Tsu City, Mie Prefecture. Here, you will find the legendary Ryuo cherry blossom tree. It is said that this rare cherry blossom tree grew from a seed left by a dragon as it ascended to the heavens, enchanting people to this day.
This centuries-old cherry blossom tree, although only 3 meters high, has a unique ecology. Unlike ordinary cherry blossoms, the leaves and flowers bloom simultaneously, creating a sense of mystery in the new buds sprouting from beneath the petals.
During the blooming period from late April to early May, the fluttering light pink petals create a fantastical scene in the wind. The fallen petals form a carpet on the surrounding approach, immersing visitors in a sense of wandering into a world of cherry blossom snow.
Including the Ryuo cherry blossom, Chotoku-ji temple has been designated as a natural monument, holding high historical value.
