Gekkoken is a long beloved long-established Chinese soba shop in Hakata. It moved to Tenjin in September 2022, inheriting the taste of Hakata in a new location.
The most famous dish at Gekkoken is the Chinese soba topped with two types of chashu, chicken, and pork. The simple yet rich flavor of the soup allows you to enjoy the taste of salt and soy sauce directly. The homemade thick wheat noodles are also superb.
The broth, painstakingly prepared by the owner, is the source of the flavor of Gekkoken's Chinese soba. It firmly encapsulates the umami of ingredients such as chicken bones, kelp, and dried sardines. The nostalgic taste of Hakata is present here.
The toppings, such as quail eggs, cherry tomatoes, and green onions, are also charming, visually pleasing, and stimulate the appetite. Single dishes like the local chicken rice ball are also popular.
In a calm atmosphere at the counter seats, you can fully enjoy authentic Hakata-style Chinese soba. Please spend a moment to savor the deliciousness of Gekkoken while reminiscing about Hakata.
