The name of this area derives from the reclamation work carried out during the Edo period. The surrounding area is dotted with townhouses where descendants of the landowners from that time still reside, preserving the essence of the bygone era. The shops standing in front of the station also exude the traditional ambiance deeply rooted in the region's history.
There are local favorites such as seafood restaurants, convenience stores, and cozy retro izakaya dotted around. As the terminal station, it remains lively from early morning to late at night, allowing visitors to enjoy strolling around based from here.
This area was once at the mouth of the Tama River and transformed into a town through reclamation. It has now become the terminus in the suburbs, but it retains the strong vestiges of a bygone era. That is the great charm of this small station, offering a taste of history and tradition.
