Nestled quietly in Kōnosu City, Shoganji Temple is a precious temple conveying the history from the Sengoku period to the Edo period. Known as a place connected to Tokugawa Ieyasu, its rich history and cultural heritage captivate visitors.
The history of Shoganji Temple changed significantly after meeting Tokugawa Ieyasu. It is said that in 1592, upon visiting, Ieyasu was impressed by the scholarship of the chief priest, Enyo Fuzan, and immediately became a devotee. Since then, under the Tokugawa family's patronage, the temple flourished.
