Nestled in a tranquil residential area, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this park is abundant with lush greenery and boasts keyhole-shaped burial mounds designated as historical sites in Nara Prefecture.
Warazuka Kofun is an estimated keyhole-shaped burial mound constructed in the latter half of the 6th century. With an impressive length of approximately 140 meters, its grandeur allows us to catch a glimpse of the authority of ancient royal power that once ruled over the Nara Basin. In addition to the burial mound, the park also houses excavated artifacts such as pottery shards and iron implements, offering a valuable site for experiencing the lifestyle and culture of the time.
Surrounding the burial mound are expansive green lawns, where one can leisurely relax under the shade of trees. The park is equipped with playground equipment for children, allowing families to fully enjoy nature. Depending on the season of visit, visitors can also appreciate the changing scenery throughout the year, such as cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.
Warazuka Kofun is located approximately a 15-minute walk from Kintetsu Yamato-Yagi Station on the JR Nara Line. The nearest bus stop is
