Mazuka Kofun, which conveys the majesty of the Kofun period, is a keyhole-shaped tumulus located in Mihata-cho, Nabari City, Mie Prefecture.
Mazuka Kofun boasts the largest scale among the tumuli group, 'Mihata Kofun Group,' representing Nabari City. The tumuli of the same era are scattered around, bearing witness to the former prosperity.
You can see this majestic tumulus from the Kintetsu train window. It is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from the station, allowing you to visit while reflecting on the ancient landscape.
Several stone Buddhas are enshrined in the rear circular part. The sculptures, engraved with the prayers of the people at the time, will undoubtedly appeal to our hearts beyond time.
The view from the top of the tumulus is exceptional. You can immerse yourself in the ancient romance while being captivated by the beautiful curves and the greenery-enveloped panorama. You might enjoy a short stroll as well.
