Historical landmark • 4-chōme-7-5 Akasaka, Minato City, Tokyo 107-0052, Japan
The following is a proposed tourist article introducing 'Ushimingsaka' in Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo.
Ushimingsaka is located on the border of Akasaka and Aoyama. Its name comes from the fact that the road surface used to be rough, causing the oxen pulling the carts to groan. By walking along this slope where the Edo period atmosphere is strongly preserved, you can catch a glimpse of the past.
The pavement of the slope is particularly striking. The reddish pavement may be derived from the soil in this area. The color scheme, which matches the surrounding atmosphere, highlights the individuality of Ushimingsaka.
At the top of the slope, there is a point where there used to be an ox cart station. Nearby, there are also the remains of the Edo period honjin (inn for feudal lords) and temples and shrines, filled with the fragrance of history. By strolling around the area, you can fully enjoy the remnants of the Edo period.
Beyond Ushimingsaka, there are modern shops and facilities stretching out. After being intoxicated by the atmosphere of the good old days, you can fully experience the modern air. Why not enjoy the charm of this area where history and modernity coexist?
