As soon as you step into Teyouzan Park, the first thing that catches your eye is Musashi Miyamoto's tombstone. It was built in 1654 by Iori, the adopted son of the representative warrior Musashi, in memory of his master. Within the spacious park, there is also a stone monument depicting the exchange between Musashi and his disciple, Sasaki Kojiro, which evokes the atmosphere of that time.
Further ahead, there is an observatory on a small hill. The stunning view of the Kanmon Straits from here is like a beautiful painting. The bridges, Ganryu Island, and Hikoshima are also part of the eye-catching scenery. It's a good idea to reminisce about history while listening to the sound of the wind and waves.
If you continue to walk, you will come across the ruins of the searchlight base and power station, which were part of the former Shimonoseki Fortress. It's as if you can visualize the scene of warriors training. Additionally, from the Teyouzan Battery ruins, you can catch a glimpse of a part of the military facility from that time.
