Kamanokoshi Sakura is a historical cherry blossom spot in Shirokawa Town, Yamagata Prefecture. Once there was an over 1200-year-old tree that boasted its majestic appearance. The harmony with the snow-capped Iide Mountain Range in the background created an unforgettable scenic beauty for visitors.
However, time is relentless. From around 2017, the old tree showed signs of aging. In 2019, it sadly lost its designation as a cultural asset. But the story of cherry blossoms in this land did not end there.
