Perched on a hill in Mikuni Town, Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture, Naritasan Nine-Headed Dragon Temple is a hidden gem loved by locals and continually enchanting visitors. Founded in Showa 33 (1958) by enshrining the Fudo Myo-o deity split from Naritasan Shinshoji Temple in Chiba Prefecture, the temple gives a sense of deep history and tradition despite its relatively recent establishment.
The temple's bright red buildings create a striking contrast against the blue sky, pleasing the eyes of visitors. Situated atop a hill, the observatory offers an unobstructed view of the surrounding rural landscape. During the cherry blossom season, the view of cherry blossom trees from the hilltop is absolutely breathtaking.
The main hall is freely accessible for visitors to enter and worship. The dimly lit hall, housing the statue of Fudo Myo-o, exudes a mystical aura. While offering prayers, don't forget to visit the on-site Shusse Inari Shrine. The special offering box,
