Kōzai-ji Temple is an ancient temple located in Toon, Ehime Prefecture. It is said to have the healing power of Yakushi Nyorai, attracting a constant flow of visitors. The temple grounds are adorned with various buildings including the main hall, Daishido Hall, and Shugyō Daishi Hall, creating a scenic and well-maintained environment resembling a garden.
On the monthly commemoration day on the 12th of every month, a free market and antique market are held on the temple grounds, with a variety of colorful stalls. There are also stalls selling takoyaki and imagawayaki, creating a lively atmosphere. The temple is also known for its cherry blossoms, which warmly welcome visitors in full bloom during spring.
Even those who cannot climb stairs can visit the temple and explore the 88 temple plates through the use of ramps. Inside the Oku-no-in, there is a Buddha statue of Jizō Bosatsu, whose gentle gaze embodies the feelings of parents for their children, providing solace to our hearts. The flat temple grounds without stone steps are designed with everyone in mind, allowing for easy access and visitation.
