The ryokan's architecture is beautiful both inside and outside. It looked even better when it was snowing. The staff were all friendly and attentive. However, the price was high - nearly A$800 for 2 people for a Friday night. I requested special meals as I don't eat any meat. They served me a lovely course dinner but I was charged extra for the change. We stayed at a different ryokan the next day. It was about A$500 for 2 - cheaper, but everything was similar to Kosekiya. The other ryokan also prepared beautiful dinner for me but with no extra cost.

The history of the place is rich, but unfortunately, the room was very noisy, and we couldn’t sleep at night. I heard neighbours from next to our room talking from upstairs; I heard their walking steps, flashing toilets, and they played music inside the onsen!!!
(Onsen is supposed to be a relaxing place! )
And there is no heating on the balcony!

Absolutely incredible. Try to stay here on a weekday as the area gets several day visitors on Saturday/ Sunday.
But this was one of the greatest experiences I have had.
Food, alcohol. Everything is paid for.
You gain access to several amazing facilities.
Make sure to head over to their lunch restaurant, and pick up the curry. It is the best curry I have ever tried.
