Here is a brief and rough translation of the sign into English: "In January of the 7th year of Kaei (1854), the American Admiral Perry arrived in Yokohama with a formation made up of 7 ships. At that time, the nearby villagers gathered to try to catch a glimpse of the "Black Ships" from this hill, however neighboring villagers too heard rumor of being able to view from this point, and together a huge throng came together. As this happened, people selling dango (sweet rice cakes) and tea began showing up as well, and the place became quite lively." The sign was erected in 2000, and then rededicated in 2010.

Located on the tip of the edge of a plateau that juts out from the west side of Kuraki Park toward Kamiooka Station, this is a view point where you can see Mt. Fuji to the west and Yokohama Port to the east-northeast. If this is the case, there is no doubt that the black ship could have been seen when Perry arrived. As expected, we couldn't see inside Yokohama Port, but you can see not only the Yokohama Bay Bridge and Tsurumi Tsubasa Bridge, but also the Marine Tower and even the control tower of Haneda Airport, so be sure to try it on a clear day.

Even if you look at it on a map or on Street View, you might think, ``There must be a better place to see Kurofune,'' but when you actually go there, you can see not only the port but also the surrounding area. I know it's good. In particular, the view of Mt. Fuji is so amazing that it makes you say "Wow!". I see, this is a delicious spot where you can enjoy two views of Kurofune and Mt. Fuji. Sightseeing here alone would be quite salty, but if you set it up as a walk from JR Isogo Station to Keikyu Kamiooka Station, it would be a nice Sunday exercise. We recommend winter when the air is clean. If you aim for clear skies after rain, your chances of winning will greatly increase.

I visited the MAP because it said "Kurofune Mt. Hill". You might think that it is not suitable for sightseeing because it is far away from the port, but the current Isogo area has been reclaimed and used to be a coastline up to near Isogo Station. The hill we visited is high and the view is great if the weather is good. To visit on foot...it's a pretty tough slope.
