Located in Nishiankai, Suo-Oshima, Valo is a hidden restaurant enveloped by rich nature. Its log cabin-style calm interior and terrace seating where you can feel the seasons are very appealing. Although it's about 40 minutes from the Oshima Bridge, you can enjoy relaxing time while gazing at the island scenery.
Valo's signature dish, the 'Organic Vegetable and Game Platter,' features carefully crafted dishes centered around locally harvested seasonal organic vegetables and seafood from Suo-Oshima.
The owner-chef, originally from Hiroshima, has trained for 27 years in places like Nadaman. The dishes, utilizing Japanese techniques, are characterized by their delicate flavors that highlight the ingredients with mild seasoning.
With increasing media exposure, weekends and between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. can get particularly crowded. To ensure you can savor the dishes, reservations by the day before are recommended.
With significant menu changes each season, revisiting becomes a joy. Enjoying the blessings of the island through the changing seasons is one of Valo's charms.
Why not spend a delicious, healing time in the peaceful island atmosphere? Valo is sure to become a special place to discover new charms of Suo-Oshima.
