A relatively small aquarium, not much species, so I will not recommend it to those without sufficient time on the island. However, if you will spend the whole day or even 2 days on the island and are animal fans, then it may be worthy to spend a few hours to have a walk. There were marvelous shows and performances by well trained animals, and you can have a chance to take photos with cute penguins at a very close distance!

Nice and clean. You need to buy a ticket for a time slot, however you can buy these at the entrance but you might need to wait an hour before you timeslot comes up which is what we did rather than buying online. I loved all the different jellyfish displays... Not something I'd seen elsewhere. You get to see most of the exhibits on multiple levels so don't need to line up as soon as you enter as there are more opportunities to see otters and whale sharks as you move along.

A very cute spot in Miyajima island not too far from the Ikutsushima shrine. Wasn’t expecting much going in, but was definitely impressed by the amount of wildlife being showcased here. There were also scheduled sea lion shows that were part of the admission ticket. A great place to spend some time away from the bustling streets in Miyajima island.

Good experience here. Some good animals, sea lion, penguin, otter, jellyfish etc. I got to participate in the penquin encounter and pet a penguin. A visit to the aquarium is a good activity to fill in an afternoon, but most probably wouldn't spend more than two hours here. I generally agree with some of the other commentators that the enclosures were a bit small, though.
