The charm of Saruhashi woven by the magnificent landscape and extraordinary rock formations

A magnificent rock formation standing in the valley of the Abukuma River

Saruhashi, located on the border of Fukushima Prefecture and Miyagi Prefecture, is a picturesque sight in the valley of the Abukuma River. At a place where the width of the river abruptly narrows, an extraordinary rock formation, said to be named after a jumping monkey, stands tall, allowing visitors to appreciate the majestic beauty sculpted by nature.

The story of the rock embellished with legends

This place holds interesting legends. A long time ago, an envoy of the lion dance tried to cross the valley but was almost swept away by the rapid stream. At that moment, a monkey is said to have jumped from the rock and saved the envoy's life. As a token of gratitude, the rock where the monkey jumped was named

There is a Coke ON vending machine and a chair made of stone. I was saved because it looked like it was going to dry out. Also, the head of a skeletal animal was falling off. Oh so scary!

The scenery created by the valley is spectacular, but the footing is not very good. I wanted to go fishing in the Abukuma River and after staring at the map, I found this place, but the current was so steep that I often got caught. It was a shame because the atmosphere was great. Also, there is a large stagnation downstream, and it seems to be quite deep.

The Abukuma River valley on the border between Fukushima and Miyagi prefectures. Is it the narrowest part? The river is quite narrow and the current is fast. There are several parking lots in Fukushima Prefecture.

It's a place with strange rocks and a nice view. There is a legend. If you are interested, please check it out locally 😊 The autumn leaves 🍁 have finished, but it's a nice view.

This triple-digit national highway is great. There's construction going on here and there, so things may change in a few years.
