Guesthouse • 3837-5 Teshimaieura, Tonosho, Shozu District, Kagawa 761-4661, Japan
The following is a proposed structure for a tourism article.
Located in the Kaora district at the northwestern end of Shodoshima. In this small village with only about 30 residents, stands an old folk house built 90 years ago. Formerly a ryokan, the building has now been renovated into the guesthouse 'Takamatsuya', serving as a resting place for travelers visiting the island.
The pure Japanese-style structure, divided by sliding doors, exudes an otherworldly atmosphere as if transcending time and space. However, the futons and amenities provide a modern comfort. What guests feel is a nostalgic space where retro and modernity are exquisitely blended.
Takamatsuya's pride is its lush garden. Sitting on the engawa, you can feel the chirping of small birds and be soothed by the cool sound of wind chimes. With shower facilities available, you can also enjoy a bath after swimming in the sea. You can also leisurely indulge in reading while surrounded by sunlight and breeze.
The host of the guesthouse will provide advice on nearby restaurants, activities, and transportation. At the nearby folk house restaurant with a lawn, you can enjoy simple home-cooked dishes of the island. Also, the ferry terminal is only a 5-minute walk away, allowing visitors to enjoy Shodoshima stress-free.
The leisurely time spent at Takamatsuya will be an experience that remains in the heart like the sea breeze blowing on the island. Why not discover the goodness of old-fashioned Japan on a small island in the Seto Inland Sea?
