Hikone Castle's keep is designated as a national treasure and is one of the twelve remaining keeps in Japan. The three-tiered roof is adorned with various decorative gables and elegant flower-shaped windows throughout. Its luxurious structure never fails to captivate visitors.
In addition to the keep, numerous buildings within the castle grounds, such as the Sawayakko Tamon Yagura, the stable, and the San-no-Maru triple turret, are designated as important cultural properties. On clear days, the top floor of the keep offers a panoramic view of Lake Biwa and the city of Hikone. Hikone Castle is also designated as a constituent cultural property of the
