The 'Okunoin' of Anshoji, located in the depths of Mt. Kurama in the northwest of Kyoto. As you proceed along the approach, the hustle and bustle of the city fades away, enveloped by the greenery of the trees and fresh air. There, a peculiar Buddhist statue called 'Gohou Maouson' is enshrined.
This 'Gohou Maouson' is said to be a figure from Hindu mythology, said to have been sent as a messenger from Venus to Earth 6.5 million years ago. From its mysterious anecdotes, it is also known as a power spot.
The Okunoin is also famous as a training ground for warriors. The spirit of the legendary warrior Minamoto no Yoshitsune is also enshrined here, making it a prestigious place known as the 'abode of the demon king'. In the midst of the silence, visitors cannot help but pause for a moment in the divine presence that permeates the air.
After leaving the Okunoin, a path leading to Kifune Shrine appears. Surrounded by the nature of Mt. Kurama, one can leisurely continue along the path. It can be said to be an excellent course where one can enjoy the highlights of Kyoto sightseeing.
