It was close to where I was staying so I went to see it.
I have gone to see Nagao chicken several times in the past. I couldn't remember where it was.
I went inside and an elderly woman, who I think was the manager, talked to me about various things.
However, due to the recent outbreak of avian influenza, we sprinkled lime in the garden to prevent the infection of the free-range chickens🐔. It seems that there is no avian influenza in Kochi yet, but if infected, it will be destroyed, so it is of course necessary to take precautions.
There was a long-tailed chicken in a separate building, so a man showed me around. The long-tailed chicken was developed for ornamental purposes.
However, recently, the cost of feeding seems to be very expensive, and he told me that this is the only place in Kochi that keeps long-tailed chickens. I heard that there were two other locations, but the one I went to was probably a different one.
Each bird was in the cage. Recently, we have been receiving various complaints from animal welfare groups, so it seems that we are having a hard time responding to them.
The chickens 🐔 are all quiet, so they never went outside.
I want to keep it in my memory before I can't see it much anymore.

I felt the charm of the "Tosa Onagadori" (Special Natural Monument) with its rare grace and beautiful long tail. There was also a chicken 🐔 with a long tail of 13.5 meters. Suddenly, Momo-chan (cat 🐱) We are greeted by a chicken who is carefully raised in a chest-like wooden box (height 180cm, width 80cm). *His Majesty the Emperor, the Imperial Family, Former President Carter, and Michelle. Wi🏌, etc., have been visited.

When I read only the reviews, I felt a bit uneasy, but when I actually went and listened to the zookeeper's stories, I was moved by how much they loved and cared for the long-tailed birds.
Onagadori is a historically improved breed.
If the tail is cut and short, it is not suitable for ornamental or edible purposes. If that's the case, extinction is the only option.
What are the standards of aggressive animal rights groups?
Even though it's an endangered species.
The country should protect the long-tailed bird.
Species preservation is a valuable resource of our country's history and culture.

Thanks to the careful guide, I was able to understand the history of Onagadori.
It seems that only docile males with the ability to grow their tails will be placed in the box.

A shop with an appearance that takes a little courage to enter.
As soon as you enter, Momo-chan, the signboard cat, will be waiting for you (so cute).
There is a separate building where the long-tailed chickens are kept, and the keeper will give you detailed explanations. When there are not many customers, he takes a lot of time to explain things carefully and shows us a variety of girls. The facility itself is old and seems to be struggling to manage, but I believe it is a very meaningful facility for passing on the culture of Onagadori, a regional treasure, to future generations.
