Standing in a quiet alley, the Imanishi Family Shoin is filled with an old-fashioned ambience created by wooden lattice doors and earthen walls. A small pond in the inner courtyard is surrounded by gentle greenery. Stepping inside, one is enveloped in an extraordinary space that seems to suspend time.
The interior of the building faithfully reproduces the shoin-zukuri style with its upper and lower level rooms, as well as a tea room, reflecting the elegant lifestyle of a family who served at Kofuku-ji Temple. Visitors can experience the dignity and elegance of the Muromachi period while receiving detailed explanations from skilled staff.
A café space is also provided within the building. Visitors can enjoy warm coffee, shika no amazake, Nara pickles, and other unique Nara flavors. It's a place to luxuriate in a special time while gazing at the greenery of the inner courtyard.
