The origins of Isonokami Shrine are ancient, tracing back to the Asuka period. The main deity worshipped here is Futsunomitama-no-Ōkami, with the divine spirit residing in the sword Futsunomitama-no-Tsurugi, which was presented to Emperor Jimmu during his eastern campaign, deeply connected with Japan's foundation myths.
Additionally, the shrine enshrines the sword used by Susanoo-no-Mikoto to defeat the Yamata no Orochi, known as the
