The Kennin-ji Temple was built in the place where the weary high priest Shun'ya Myoho retired from the political disputes in Kyoto. If you look closely, you can feel the atmosphere of the Muromachi period in the lush green garden.
As you proceed along the approach, a large oak tree welcomes you. Walking along the stone-paved approach surrounded by the greenery of the trees. Sometimes, the wind blows and the leaves of the trees rustle.
Looking out over the borrowed landscape-style garden to the left of the main hall, the green grove calms the mind. Watching the trees stretch out their branches, one is freed from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Kennin-ji Temple houses memorial tablets for naval officers and soldiers of the former Maizuru naval base. With thoughts of remembrance for the war dead, one quietly puts their hands together.
