Hidden away and part of the next door boutique hotel la Bombance delivers on every level , high end japanese food executed to perfection. Staff is bilingual so you have no problem understanding what to order , we went for the set lunch menu which was an excellent choice consisting of a variety of beautifully arranged specialities . Although each dish was bite sized the food left nothing to desired and we left pretty full actually . I think the place is a must try the interior minimalistic zen style .

I went to this place for a birthday celebration. The set menu dinner has 9 dishes cost 15,000yen . Every dish is extremely tasty . I understand why they have a French name because the food is fusion. Judging the beautiful china they are using I can say is definitely kaiseiki but with Chinese fusion style .The service is top notch , we even get a bento prepared for us in the end with the rice they grow in the country side of Japan . A very unique and memorable experience !!

Conclusion: Christmas Courses are amazing, best crab risotto and goldeneye snapper I’ve ever had, but not the beef. —————— Pro: 1. Ingredients and the cook methods were various enough, so I can always expect for the next course. 2. Crab and abalone risotto is amazingly umami. The rice was cooked softer than the regular risotto rice you’d expect for. It’s surprising that this is the 1st dish of the whole courses as it’s a bit too much as the opening course. But I still love it; 3. The goldeneye snapper was epic. The skin was so crispy that it was like they kept the fish scales, but they didn’t. It tastes like a very light sugar crisp, rather than a skin. This is my favorite dish of the night. 4. Fried chicken wings were also another surprise to me. Very think but crispy skin, with super juicy meat. I think they put something like turnip while getting rid of the bone (it’s not written in the menu). —————— Cons: 1. The beef is not good at all. The red wine sauce was great, but the beef itself tasted like nothing, though it’s juicy. The cook of each cut was also different, and it’s really confusing to me as they looked like several cuts from the same steak. 2. The shark fin sauce on the chicken wing is unnecessary, as it tastes just like normal thicken sauce. I don’t like shark fin neither. 3. The restroom’s door is really confusing. It’s only half the person’s height, so you have to bend over and “squeeze in” the restroom. It’s super awkward… But I still love the most of it, considering it’s just 22000yen, so I gave a rate of 4 (considering 3.8 for overall but I raised it because of the satisfaction of the taste)

Our last visit was definitely pre-Covid, and we were excited to return. Food was as amazing as ever, service was as prompt and detailed as ever, and ambiance and buzz are great. Alcohol prices had gone up… had 2 bottles of reds for 2pax regardless :p didn’t get the greet the chef on the day tho

One of my favorite restaurant in the world. 29 years ago we flew from Germany to Tokyo for a long weekend just to enjoy the food there. Friendly service. It is a good idea to ask a sake pairing to discover the multitude of taste it is offering
