The Hidden Gem Bar in Niseko: 'BAR MOON'

A Different Face at Night

This establishment, which operates as a ramen shop during the day, undergoes a transformation into a bustling bar at night. The interior, complete with a pool bar, exudes a laid-back atmosphere, courtesy of the amiable owner.

Culinary Charms

From ramen to yakisoba, the menu is extensive. Unusual items such as miso butter ramen and mapo tofu ramen are also popular. The yakisoba, a greasy Chinese noodle dish smothered in a hearty sauce, is perfect for a chilly day.

Open Late into the Night

While the regular closing time is 1 a.m., it is said that the business hours may be extended late into the night to accommodate the customers. This bar is a convenient spot for a nightcap, open into the late hours of the night.

Meeting the Amiable Owner

The veteran owner, who has operated this bar for over 8 years, is both entertaining and friendly. Guests are welcome to stay well into the early hours to create enjoyable memories. With billiards and darts facilities available, one can deepen connections while enjoying games.

Overpriced watery ramen, it may come in generous portion having finished half was already my limit! Only decent dish is the fried chicken. Packed tourists not even 1 local customer in sight. Worst meal of my Niseko trips.

Pretty terrible experience overall. Food is adequate, but overpriced. The wait time to be seated is awful. The kicker, they charge for hot drinking water (¥250 for 8oz cup) but fail to list it anywhere on the menu, so be warned. We waited 45 minutes to get a table, granted we were a large group of 7, however, we were passed over in the queue many times before being seated. Extremely irritating when a table of 9 had become available, but the staff seated two smaller groups, who were behind us in the queue, there before they seated us. Also ridiculous to serve cold water for free but hot water for a charge. Drinking water is drinking water, whether hot or cold. Moreover, if you’re going to charge people for hot water, at least have the decency to list the charge on the menu along side all the other beverages offered for a charge.

Our favourite dining experience during our time in Niseko. Lovely and very warm staff and beautiful cozy feel inside. Delicious ramen (definitely the best in town - we had tried 2 others locally that were too oily and not great) and great fried rice. As the establishment is really small, best tip would be to get there just before opening time for dinner to ensure you can get a table (which is what we and some others had done) and then you don’t have to wait too long as the staff will likely ask you to come back later once the restaurant seats are full rather than waiting outside. There was also the option for people wanting a table to come in to sit at the bar upstairs to have a drink until a table became available. Absolutely loved this place and wished we came more during our time in Niseko.

The food came out pretty quick and I thought it was quite delish. I ordered the devil ramen which was cool to experience but it was probably one of the most spiciest ramens for me (and I’m south-east Asian). I think the spice took away from the ramen flavour but that’s my fault. Finished it all but the soup. My partner had the sesame miso ramen and he enjoyed it. The lady serving us was a bit low effort but she might’ve just had a bad day which we can all understand. Overall, a bit overpriced due to being on the mountain but very tasty!

One of the more "local" places to go with amazing appetizers, awesome ramen and great drinks. The servers speak English and are very helpful. Definitely try the karaage and gyoza.
