Tourist attraction • Ikitsukicho Yamadamen, Hirado, Nagasaki 859-5706, Japan
Ikitsuki Town is located at the western end of Hirado Island, a remote island in Nagasaki Prefecture. The Ikitsuki Nagase Cape Lighthouse, as its alternative name suggests, is a lighthouse with a unique rocket-like shape. Surrounded by vegetation, it quietly stands in a place with a great view.
The road to Ikitsuki Nagase Cape Lighthouse requires navigating through winding narrow roads from the Sunset Road. Although there is no gate, the overgrown vegetation on both sides initially gives the impression that cars cannot enter. However, recent logging operations have made the road smoother and now allow car access.
Proceed along the road, and you will soon arrive at a parking space for 5 to 8 cars. From here, a 30-second walk will reveal the candle-like shape of the lighthouse. The surrounding area remains untouched natural beauty, offering an outstanding location for viewing the sea and the lighthouse. Photo frames are also set up, making it a popular spot for commemorative photos.
Be mindful of spider webs along the way, and there are moments that may induce a little tension, such as the cages set up for wild boar capture. However, this is also a kind of small adventure. The white limestone lighthouse against the clear sky on a sunny day will more than compensate for the journey.
When visiting the Ikitsuki Nagase Cape Lighthouse, why not keep in mind the small encounters with nature and fully enjoy the splendid views and the excellent location.
