I booked a special room for women, and it was very worth it with 6 people in it with 3 bunk beds. I read the previous review and was a little scared. but if you are a woman and book a room specifically for women, I think you will be safe. for the 2400 yen I paid per night, I didn't expect more service. The important thing is that I can rest well after being satisfied traveling around Tokyo.

I would not recommend this place even if you are on a budget, and would advise everyone to be careful, especially if you're a woman. I would want to see some improvement before I can personally advise it to anybody 1. There is no place in your "capsule" to hook the curtain too so it's easy for it to be blown away, or get dragged by something, exposing yourself 2. Hot water was barely working in some stall, I had to go out with wet hair looking for a stall with working hot water. 3. Have more women/men exclusive floor. Some men snore and have stronger body odor, making it very uncomfortable to be around if you are unlucky getting such neighbors. 4. There are better hostel around, even net cafe that offer your own personal booth with a computer, TV, allowing you to have complete privacy. After a long day, the last you want to experience at the hostel is not having hot water, snoring and stinky neighbors, and feeling unsafe from not meeting anybody of your own gender. 5. If you are uncomfortable with the hotel recording your face, taking picture of your ID and voice, don't come. Because the tablet ask you to do those things as steps of self check-in...

cute place! the beds are clean and the service is really good too! you get slippers and big sheets and clean towels everyday (as long as you ask for it). the hostels has 7 floors and theres a common area where you can eat and go outside to see the view! theres also a place to do your laundry and a little kitchen with a microwave, pots and pans as well as a refrigerator and clean plates/bowls! the nearest subway station is a like a 7 minutes walk

This worden bunk bed option is located on the hibiya line, near iriya ( H19 station), one stop from Ueno. It's modern simple & effective, no luxury. :-) For an incredible 2000yen per night there are 8 or so bunk beds in one room. There are 10 rooms. All together 46 beds over three floors. You do a digital self check-in via a code, upload your docs etc. There is provided a towel, slipper, simple kitchen, shared fridge facility, shower and powder rooms gender separated etc Rooms are air conditioned. The first thing you notice when walking in late is the smell from people. So if you are sensitive to that I don't recommend this option.

If all you need is a quick cheap place to stay then this can do that for you. Nothing fancy, no great views. It has showers, small water closets, and a bunk to sleep in. It does get rather warm as you will be on either the 3rd to 5th floor, probably my biggest complaint.
