Hoshiguma Park is enveloped in a mystical atmosphere in Tomoda, Hita City, Oita Prefecture. Known as one of the three power spots, called Hitamikuma, it's adored by locals for generations.
The park's primary feature is the steep stairs leading to the summit. The moss-covered stone stairs create a sense of timelessness. At the summit, an ancient tomb quietly observes the history of Hita.
Hoshiguma Park offers two hiking routes. Whether you take the straight and steep stairs from the torii gate or the slightly gentler steps, each choice provides a distinct adventure.
Although partly obscured by trees, the view from the summit changes with the seasons. Particularly in winter, with the leaves fallen, more expansive views may be available.
Due to steep stairs and areas without railings, caution is advised for elderly visitors and those accompanied by small children. Some areas may be slippery, so appropriate footwear is recommended.
The park has a few parking spaces, but as they are limited, using nearby parking lots during crowded times might be wise.
Hoshiguma Park is not just a park. As one of the three power spots of Hita, it serves as a spiritual locus for the local community. Experience something special in this mystical location where history and nature converge. Although not widely popular, it may be a perfect place for those seeking quiet historical contact or a bit of adventure. Be sure to visit when in Hita City.
