Dainichido, located in the northwest of Kyoto, is a historic temple built on a mountain with an altitude of about 200 meters. It has a solemn atmosphere, but it also has a unique charm.
As you proceed along the approach, you will come across a dry landscape garden. The intricate stone arrangement reflects the meticulous calculation of the creator. From the covered benches, you can admire the Shogun's Mound right in front and the serene atmosphere is exceptional.
When you leave the precincts, you will suddenly be greeted by a magnificent view of Kyoto cityscape. You can see Mount Daimonji, the mountains of Higashiyama, and the flow of Kamogawa River, and during the cherry blossom season, you can enjoy the scenery enveloped in flowers. With a touch of humor, it seems worth spending money to revitalize the town.
Buses also operate from the nearest Sanjo Keihan Station, but only on special occasions on weekdays. It is recommended to access by taxi or car. The precincts are a bit difficult to find, and there are few signboards, so it is definitely worth taking the time to visit.
The panoramic view of Kyoto's cityscape and the elaborate beauty of the garden. Dainichido can be said to be a famous place where you can enjoy the elegant atmosphere of the capital city.
