Immerse Yourself in the Down-to-Earth Atmosphere of Ebisu's Tagozaku

Stepping into this world from the streets of Tokyo, one can easily fall into a surreal feeling as if transcending time and space. Tagozaku, standing in the back alleys of West Ebisu, is filled with a nostalgic atmosphere from its wooden structure, weathered signboard, and dimly lit interior.

Immerse Yourself in Nostalgia in the Showa-Inspired Interior

As you navigate the intricate pathways, you will enter a retro-style interior with counter seats at the center and scattered tatami seating. The interior, with its rich wooden textures and aged counters, tells the story of times gone by.

The lingering smoky fragrance of carefully grilled yakitori and the dim lighting throughout the space create a nostalgic ambiance. The faint scenes illuminated by the dim lighting provide a soothing experience.

Indulge in Carefully Crafted Yakitori

The yakitori, with its high attention to detail, is carefully and painstakingly grilled to perfection. Each skewer, arranged by part, is uniformly and beautifully grilled with even heat distribution. The soy sauce-based marinade, with its modest saltiness, enhances the natural flavors of the ingredients while maintaining a clean taste. It's a dish that reflects respect for the ingredients and the high level of craftsmanship.

Forget Time in the Nostalgic Flavors and Atmosphere

Despite its proximity to the station, the range of items at affordable prices is delightful. Contrary to the appearance of the establishment, you can also enjoy quality, alcoholic beverages. The time spent in the gentle intoxication of local sake brings a heartwarming atmosphere.

The genuine flavors that never fade with time and the Showa-inspired atmosphere - Tagozaku, where you can immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of the downtown area, is like a hidden retreat for adults.

I came here 15y ago and have fond memories but on a recent visit I felt this place has degernated into a ghetto. Yakitoro was salty and lukewarm, salad had plastic wrap left on the bowl, shared gender bathroom, and non friendly staff. This bldg is an earthquake hazard and will be demolished soon which will solve all our issues.

It is a convenient place to try Hoisu right next to Ebisu station. Food is mostly organ meat on sticks, which goes well with highballs and hoisu. The soup is the best thing on the menu.
