The Ōshiro Yokoana Tomb Group, located in Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture, is a mysterious site where local chieftains of the Kofun period rest. Distributed along the road, these tombs have conveyed the lifestyle and culture of the people from over 1500 years ago to the present.
The structure of the tombs includes an entrance, passage, and burial chamber, which once boasted a majestic appearance. Although only the stone holes remain now, with a bit of imagination, one can envision the life of ancient people.
A gilt-bronze Hwando sword was excavated from this area, marking its northernmost point. This precious finding suggests that the region had a significant connection with the central government of the time.
Access to the Ōshiro Yokoana Tomb Group is quite convenient, located along the road and easy to find. Nearby, there is the Tagajo Green Space Park, the popular ramen shop
