#Scent of the national sport in the sacred place of Ryogoku

##The stage of intense battles where tradition and modernity intersect Ryogoku Kokugikan is a sacred place for sumo, where various sports events such as boxing are also held, blending tradition and modernity. Stepping into the Kokugikan with the banners of sumo wrestlers waving, you will feel as if you are enveloped in an atmosphere that transcends time and space.

##The Japanese soul spreading beyond the dohyo The charm of Ryogoku Kokugikan is to experience intense bouts in front of your eyes, surpassing the mere viewing of sports events. On the dohyo, the sight of wrestlers competing with their techniques and hearts seems to embody the soul of the Japanese. The powerful cheers and applause from the audience will evoke a deep sense of excitement in the hearts of the viewers.

##The ultimate experience of touching tradition In particular, watching from the traditional masuseki seats will undoubtedly be an exceptional experience. It is a special opportunity to experience Japanese culture, as you sit surrounded by family or friends, savoring masu sake and enjoying sumo. The immersive experience of witnessing intense clashes near the dohyo cannot be felt through television.

##A memorable day with convenient access Located near Ryogoku Station, the convenient access allows you to return to the station easily after the match, adding to its allure. If you want to experience the tradition of grand sumo and spend a memorable day with family or friends, Ryogoku Kokugikan is definitely the best stage for that.

What an experience. Could not go to Japan without seeing a sumo tournament. Amazing views from every seat (we were in the back row and could still see everything), you were able to buy snacks, bentos and drink inside the stadium and eat them while you watch. For anyone going, you get a ticket, ours was valid from 8.30am, but we turned up at 3pm and our seats were still there, so if you don't fancy a whole day of it.

We went here for a boxing match and loved this place!! The seats were so comfortable which makes a difference when watching a long event. Everything about this space is beautiful and pristine. The fight was amazing! I would love to watch a sumo match one day upon our return!

We went there today for 6th day of the tournament - & it is definitely something everyone should do at least once in their lifetime. Very interesting to watch as each round only lasts a few seconds. It is worth noting however that the 08.30 time mentioned while booking is the time the gates open, tournament doesn’t start till at least 09.30 and more important matches start even later like 14.30-15.00. Hence, if you book there is no need to turn up early and sit there waiting, which is unfortunately what we did as we were not given a detailed programme while booking. All in all, a fun experience with lots of food/souvenir stalls. Staff was also very friendly and helpful. We were in the last seating row and the ticket cost was about 120£ per head.

Had the chance to go to a sumo tournament and what an incredible experience! Please visit the arena if you have the occasion, there’s also a museum. As for the seats, lower categories have smaller seats but you can see well from everywhere in the arena so don’t worry about buying the most expensive tickets.

Stadium was cool. Sumo was awesome. Come in the arvo, the crowd filters in between about 2 and 4, they're really into it by about 5pm when the best ones come out. Could possibly do with a screen/some stats about the rikishis (height, weight, recent record) so us tourists have a bit more knowledge. But if your holiday is lucky enough to be around a sumo comp, definitely get a ticket. Food and drink prices were reasonable for a stadium and they have a museum inside also.
