Soyamisaki Itsukushima Shrine is located within Soyamisaki Park in Wakkanai, Hokkaido. It is the oldest shrine in Wakkanai and holds the title of the northernmost shrine in Japan. Sitting in a harsh natural environment, the shrine has a rich history.
The shrine's origins trace back to 1561 when Bezaltehime was enshrined by Yoshihiro Taketsuki. Later, in 1781, it was officially established as Soyamisaki Itsukushima Shrine. It enshrines the deity Ichikishimahime-no-Mikoto, who protects the safety of seas and rivers, with its main shrine located in Hiroshima Prefecture's Itsukushima Shrine.
