The Allure of Menya Kirameki, a Hidden Gem of Kyoto

Kyoto is a renowned tourist destination in Japan, with many areas exuding the atmosphere of an ancient capital. However, amidst this, Menya Kirameki stands out with its modern and stylish space. This article will explore the appeal of this shop, which gathers popularity with its refined flavors and cozy atmosphere.

The Excellence of the Soup

The most popular item at Menya Kirameki is the chicken broth-based clear soup. Its transparent, jewel-like appearance and elegant richness offer an unforgettable deliciousness. The rich and fine sweetness harmoniously blended in the deep flavor reflects the exceptional skill of this long-established restaurant.

The Versatile Spread of Flavors

However, the appeal of this shop does not stop there. The chef-recommended Taiwan maze-soba allows customers to enjoy changing the taste themselves. First, savor the rich miso dipping sauce, then add lemon powder or curry powder to bring out a new flavor. This dish, allowing to enjoy multiple flavors in one bowl, is filled with playfulness.

Indulgence in a Modern Space

The interior of the shop does not bear the slightest trace of traditional Kyoto charm. It is a modern space where the traditional charm of Kyoto is not felt at all. The harmonious blend of sunlight pouring in from the large windows and the minimal design dominated by wood and concrete creates a modern space. In such an open atmosphere, enjoying a high-quality bowl of noodles becomes a luxurious experience unique to this shop.

Menya Kirameki is a modern, charming shop hidden in the ancient capital. The merging of exceptional skill, playful flavors, and stylish space creates an unparalleled luxurious experience.

If you are near Sanjo Station in Kyoto and in the mood for some ramen, this is the place to be. Never had seabura ramen before and they were able to explain what it was. They can speak a bit of English, but it helps lots if you can speak Nihongo. Best to order are the Kyoto Seabura Ramen. Very flavorful with bold flavor profiles. And their kaarage are to die for. You won’t regret it it.

I cannot express enough how HEAVENLY the miso ramen was. It has been a month since I went there and I am still craving it. How good does it have to be to have that kind of impact? My taste buds are ruined for any other ramen now hahaha 🤣 Side note: I asked them what kind of miso they used because it was so good and they told me they use a mix of both red and white miso. Makes me want to try making it at home!
