Walking in the Stage of 'Kin-iro Yasha', Omikucho Park

Touching the Famous Scenes of Literature

Omikucho Park is the setting for the masterpiece novel 'Kin-iro Yasha' by Koizakikoyasha. Under the large pine tree called Omiku no Matsu, a scene is depicted where a woman named Omiku fears marrying the husband arranged by her parents. While strolling in the tranquil park surrounded by greenery, let's think about the lifestyle and values of the people in the Meiji era.

Strolling in the Greenery

Many trees are planted in the park, and you can walk in the shade of the trees. Flowers bloom in the square, and you can spend a relaxing time surrounded by their fragrance. Benches are also installed in the park, so it's recommended to enjoy the scenery while taking a break.

Enjoying the Seaside Location

Omikucho Park is located along the sea in Atami, and you can enjoy the view of the vast Pacific Ocean in the distance. Walking in the sea breeze can also be refreshing. In the summer, you can also experience the atmosphere of the seaside.

Taking a Break and Thinking about the Changing Generations

The era has changed from the Meiji era to the present day. However, no matter the era, people's way of life and values are always accompanied by confusion. It's also enjoyable to think about cross-generational issues while shuttling between the past and the present at Omikucho Park.

Pleasant park next to the sandy beach. There are benches around, tropical looking plants, few palm trees. The beach is illuminated at night with blue light. Perfect place for a night stroll.

From 1900 to 1903, Atami was suddenly brought into the spotlight by Momiji Ozaki's ``Golden Yasha'', which was serialized in the Yomiuri Shimbun, and tourism rapidly increased and developed, transforming the city into a tourist city. It is said that it came to be called "Omiya no Matsu" around 1933. (Soil improvement and drainage work were completed, and the current state was achieved in March 2001.)

It's a great place to take a walk with lots of greenery. But I don't think it's a place you come to on purpose.

This is a place where famous scenes from the well-known Golden Yasha are recreated. Marriage in the Meiji period was a bond between families, and the omiya could not disobey her parents. ♪The first Omiya no Matsu was named after the Showa era, and was originally called "Hagoromo no Matsu"
