Everything in immaculate condition, staff amazing, food amazing. Lovely bath environment, hot water in public and private room bath and then a new sauna. Only thing I would change is the showers where it’s a push button that doesn’t keep the water on for very long at all. Don’t bring kids, nothing for them to do there, there was a family with kids and they were bored and running around in what should have been a quiet environment.

We had a wonderful time at Ryokusuitei end of March. The lady that took us to the room as well as served our dinner has done the best job. She’s very attentive and helpful with all our needs and went beyond which shower how much they care about their guests. The room was very spacious and comfy, we had our private bath in the balcony with the view of Biwako. There’s a lot of facilities like the public bathroom, sauna, lounge etc in the hotel which made our stay a lot more enjoyable. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious and memorable. 10/10 would come back again.

An excellent ryokan with great food, clean rooms, and nice public baths. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. The staff were extremely polite and helpful during and after our stay as well. There is also a free shuttle bus for guests who are checking in and checking out that heads to Ogotoonsen station. I would like to compliment Mr Toshi Kondo (Reservations) for his excellent service patience as my family left a phone charger head and wire in the room after checking out. He was always prompt in his replies when we emailed him about it. He was able to help mail the charger out to a hotel in Kyoto, where a friend who was visiting would help collect it and bring it back for us.

What a mixed bag experience... all the pictures online showed something completely different than we got. For the price, I'm completely unsure of the value. For a room that sleeps 5, but has a private Onsen that fits 1... the balcony has plastic paint that would peel and stick to your feet when you got out. There is zero soap for washing your hands in the toilet room, but it does have a sink... If you book through apps that don't offer the dinners available within the facility, you're going to be eating elsewhere, and quite frankly, the options aren't great. The breakfast that was fortunately included looked amazing... however, be prepared to choke on pin-bones and tiny fish bones in any and all beautiful cuts of meat. I was quite shocked at the amount of attention for some things and neglect for others. Maybe I'm the one in the wrong. But display vs edibility... It's hard to rate. It all looked Beautiful 5/5 for the presentation. I was not pleased with the food 2/5 even though it was very fancy. However, for all of the upsets, i just can't speak highly for it. Absolutely the fanciest looking meal in our 10 days... We ended up resorting to Family Mart egg salad sandwiches after to satiate ourselves. If you're Asian and the food is what you expect and love, I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience more than we did. Would I come back? NO... It's unfortunate as the onsen water was fantastic. The employees were somewhat helpful but more language barrier than we had experienced in our previous 10 days in japan. And the smoking indoors was displeasing to smell at night. We weren't allowed in the public baths as we have large Tattoos which can't be covered and had been under the impression leading up to this stay we would have enough room for 2 in our bath, that wasn't the case. Oh well. Back to Tokyo for a real bed and trustworthy food. Otsu was a cute town, but there was nothing for us there, and the locals Absolutely didn't want anything to do with us asking questions about stuff to do, what fish they were trying to catch (and as a fisherman myself, having like interests usually makes for a positive conversation but we were told to basically go F ourselves, Stupid Gaijin) Best of luck to a positive experience to anyone else that stays here. Maybe it's more suited for you and your tastes/culture.

I stayed in a Fuga room with a private shower and roten buro. Our sixth-floor accommodation had an amazing view of Lake Biwako. The accommodation is very close to Lake Biwako, and the dawn was breathtaking. I saw that someone is working really hard to maintain this ryokan's excellent presentation and original Japanese culture. I saw lovely ikebana flowers surrounded with lovely poetry. The onsen is not very large, but it has a very clean and pleasant sauna area next to the roten buro (outdoor bath). Breakfast and dinner were included in my accommodation package. Everything tasted amazing and was presented in a lovely way. We had oumi gyu (oumi beef) shabu shabu for dinner. The meat was very flavorful and tender. There is a buffet for breakfast, and I thought the food was fantastic. Loved their Yuagari (after onsen) section and happy hour. You are allowed to consume an unlimited amount of Australian Chardonnay (white wine) and red wine during happy hour. There are more non-alcoholic beverages offered, along with small snacks and ice creams. In the lobby area, you can also get a nama be-ru (tap beer) for ¥300 yen. Free water, orange juice, and ice blocks are available at Yuagari, which is located around the corner from the public baths, following onsen. It's worth exploring the souvenir shop beside the entrance. Many Chinese, Korean, and European guests were present. A great extra feature was the free shuttle from JR Ogoto Onsen Station.
