In the deep mountains of Nikko, the remnants of a steel cable railway that used to run on the Tobu Railway are preserved. This is the remains of the railway line that connected the Babaeshi Station to the Myojin-hira Station, with cable cars shuttling through the great nature at that time.
Unfortunately, it was discontinued in 1970, but the station buildings, tracks, and part of the platforms are preserved as they were. It is a valuable heritage with historical significance as the only railway that was revived after a temporary suspension during World War II.
It is a pleasure to imagine the vehicles that traveled through here while strolling through the remnants. Nearby, there is an active ropeway leading to an observatory, where you can experience the charm of nature in Nikko by overlooking the mountains.
Near the remnants, there is also a snack shop where you can enjoy local specialties such as grilled dishes, dumplings, and yuba cuisine. In between strolls, you can encounter the unique food culture of Nikko.
