Hikoshima Minami Park is located on a small hill in the Hikoshima area of Shimonoseki City, overlooking the Kanmon Straits and the city of Kitakyushu on the opposite bank, making it a superb scenic spot. This park is full of ancient history and the charm of nature.
In the past, this hill had a military role of overlooking the strait from here, but today, walking paths have been developed, becoming a place of relaxation for citizens to enjoy strolling. Cherry blossoms and azaleas bloom beautifully in spring, making it a popular spot for flower viewing.
From the mountaintop, you can see the Kanmon Straits among the trees and enjoy the view of the city of Kitakyushu on the opposite bank and the Kanmon Bridge. However, in some places, the trees blocking the view can be a regrettable accent. You can enjoy the changing scenery from this small hill while spending a leisurely time.
There are small playground equipment scattered throughout the park that children will enjoy. It might be nice to stop and enjoy the scenery while walking along the walking course. Hikoshima Minami Park, where you can spend a leisurely time with seasonal flowers blooming everywhere, is a quiet charming spot in Shimonoseki.
