Ryogaike Park is a tranquil park built around the irrigation ponds created during the Edo period. Promenades and pavilions are provided around the pond, with the backdrop of Ryogatake and Fujiwaratake mountains. In spring, you can enjoy grass horse racing amidst the fresh greenery, which has become a local tradition.
Ryogaike consists of upper and lower ponds, standing next to each other across the prefectural road. Inside the park, there are public phone booths that retain the atmosphere of the Edo period and the Itsukushima Shrine. Taking a stroll on the promenade, you can experience a serene space as if time has stopped while gazing at the tranquil swimming of waterfowl in the pond.
Ryogaike Park is a leisurely place surrounded by historic ponds and abundant nature. If you are nearby, why not pay a visit? You can enjoy a leisurely and luxurious time while experiencing the elegant old-fashioned Japanese atmosphere.
