Located in Kanda Surugadai, Chiyoda Ward of Tokyo, Yureisaka is an enchanting spot filled with rich history and culture, contrary to its eerie name. It was used as a road to the firemen's quarters during the Edo period, changing its form over time.
The name Yureisaka originates from the area being once covered by trees, making it dim even during the day. However, the completion of Ochanomizu SolaCity in 2013 transformed it into a bright and open atmosphere.
Today's Yureisaka is a slope approximately 200 meters long, adjacent to Ochanomizu SolaCity. The well-maintained sidewalks and surrounding modern buildings have replaced the once shadowy image.
Yureisaka symbolizes the harmony of urban development and historical preservation in Tokyo. Although it has transformed from a once gloomy to a bright and safe slope, its name continues to arouse our imaginations. Away from the city's hustle and bustle, this slope allows visitors to sense the flow of time, making it a precious spot to enjoy modern Tokyo while appreciating the depth of its historical roots.
