Yashima, full of historical romanticism since ancient times. Dangokuraku, located at the east end of the southern peak, is one of the three major observatories along with Shishireiboku and Yuzuru-tei. This place was also a fierce battlefield of the Genpei War, allowing you to feel the passionate spirit of the samurai in the Heian period.
The way to Dangokuraku is a short walk from the Yashima-ji Temple's upper parking lot to the north peak, where there is a fork in the road. Turn right here to reach Dangokuraku immediately. There is also a historical map of the Genpei War period, allowing you to enjoy the view while reminiscing about the past stage.
Standing on the observatory, you can see Gokenzan and Shido Bay to the east, and the entire Seto Inland Sea to the north. This scenery overlaps with the view seen by the Genpei warriors, inspiring imagination that transcends time and space. This place is also perfect for viewing the sunrise, and the moment enveloped in the calm morning sun will be an unforgettable experience.
Yashima has long been known as the 'floating roof,' and its unique terrain is charming. Being able to enjoy this charm from Dangokuraku is also one of the highlights. Touring the island and immersing yourself in history is also the essence of Yashima sightseeing.
