Kirishima Kogen Park is located on a hill overlooking the city of Miyakonojo. Here, there is a unique and charming spot called the 'bell of the gold mountain in the sky'.

A short walk from the parking lot, a lovely heart-shaped bell appears at the top of the stairs. This bell is surrounded by magnificent nature, as if it were the entrance to another world. Ringing the bell produces a lingering, pure tone that resonates in the heart.

The bell is located at the top of a gentle staircase from the parking lot. From there, a staircase continued a little further up, leading to the paragliding launch base. The plains of Miyakonojo spread out below. In the distance, you could see the Kirishima Mountain Range, Sakurajima, and Takakuma in Osumi, and the view was spectacular. The locals I met along the way said that it is beautiful during the sea of clouds season, but there are many people who come to see it, and the parking lot is often full.

It is famous as a base for paragliding. You can see the city of Miyakonojo and the Kirishima mountain range in the distance. The disadvantage is that the road is narrow and there are few places to leave. There are about 10 parking spaces at the top of the mountain.

I went there for the first time in a while. Previously, cedar trees stood in front of us, making it difficult to see the scenery, but they have been cut down and we can now see the city of Miyakonojo below! I should have done this sooner 🤣 The scenery is completely different!!! If you have a chance, why not take a look ☺️

You can go to the observation deck by car. It is convenient to go from Miyakonojo City to the Sashiba Forest Road, which is located at the end of Hanakiri Pass on National Route 222. (There is an information board) In early spring, if the conditions are good, you can see a sea of clouds. The Kirishima mountain range floating in a sea of clouds is a spectacular view. In spring, you can also enjoy cherry blossoms. In autumn, the autumn leaves are beautiful. Morning views, evening views, and night views are also recommended. There is a mountaintop observation deck at the top of the stairs from the parking lot. The view from the top of the mountain is amazing.

I came on August 27th, R5 ^ ^ The parking lot is spacious and the restrooms are not well maintained despite their appearance. It's well taken care of! The store was self-service. Climb the stairs on the side and you will see a heart-shaped bell! Further up the stairs, there is a glider launch site at the top and a resting point! You can see a sea of clouds in the morning, and the night view is also beautiful. It was a spectacular view! I recommend it ^ ^
