K0usuke Asaka
Dangozaka is a slope a few dozen meters before reaching the Otabisho, the final gathering point for the Kasahoko floats at the Chichibu Night Festival. Because the slope is steep and the height difference is less than 3 floors, and because 6 cars are lined up just a few dozen meters away, this is the point where the excitement of the Chichibu Night Festival reaches its climax. This time, I happened to be able to take pictures of people and cars going up and down on a normal day off, so I will upload them along with my impressions and images of the slope during the day.
One theory about this slope is that it was a play on the ``danko slope'' leading to the gathering place, commonly known as ``Otabisho,'' and became ``Danko-zaka'' → ``Dango-zaka.'' .
In that sense, it is a slope where you can feel the many river terraces that are unique to Chichibu.
Apparently there are two slopes with similar names in Tokyo. From what I've heard recently, it seems that the name is generally given to a place where there was a mido hall or something where dango were offered.
Although this is unrelated, the D-zaka, which is the title of Edogawa Ranpo's work ``D-zaka no ~'' where Akechi Kogoro first appears, is said to be Dango-zaka in Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo.

It's a great spot to enjoy the real thrill of the Chichibu Night Festival 😁👍️ I was surprised because Dangozaka is surprisingly steep!!ヽ(゚д゚ヽ)(゚дд゚)ノ!! I did it❗
Like every year, there was a huge crowd of spectators❗It was difficult to get a position on the Chichibu float❗
You can also enjoy the heroic Chichibu Yatai Hayashi up close 😅
The food stall is made entirely of zelkova and has no weight or bulk. The front wheels have no rudder, and the rear wheels are lifted and drifted to change direction.ヾ(゚д゚;)
Ichiko's undisturbed cooperative play is amazing❗If you are interested, please take a photo.
The run up Dangozaka is the climax of the Chichibu Night Festival.
