Nishimuraya Ryokan, standing in the streets of Sakata, is a rare ryokan converted from an old folk house with a history of more than 200 years. The long row building surrounded by thick clay walls retains the old-fashioned appearance. Walking through the entrance, it feels like entering a non-daily space beyond time and space.
The guest rooms are filled with simple yet tasteful old wood, each room exuding a different atmosphere. Due to the thickness of the clay walls, it is difficult to hear the sound from the next room, allowing for a quiet environment. The facilities are modern and comfortable, seamlessly blending old nostalgic space with freshness.
In the cypress bath that evokes the Taisho Roman style, it is also recommended to have a smoke and tea in the attic after a hot bath. Local cuisine is available at the dining place, and the warm hospitality is also charming. Staying at Nishimuraya allows for a luxurious experience as if time has stopped.
