I enjoyed the view while camping! It’s near enough to Morioka that it’s a great place to camp and then head into the city.

It is the site where you can enjoy camping. It takes only 40 minites by car from the center of Morioka city.

This is a campsite located at the trailhead of Mt. Himegami. There are toilets and a kitchen, but I'm glad they're free. There are roughly 10 flat areas that can be accessed by car. First come, first served. If you don't mind, you can pitch a tent or tarp anywhere on the site, even on a slope, as long as there is space available. There are many climbers on weekdays, so it's probably a place to avoid bears.

Don't have too high expectations since it's a free campsite. There is only a kitchen and a toilet. In the summer, the parking lot fills up with climbers. However, the campsite itself is not very crowded. When you get to the top, you can see Mt. Iwate beautifully. You can't see it from near the kitchen or toilet. You can feel the presence of people even while keeping a reasonable distance from them. I specialize in day camps, so I don't know about night camps (lol)

It looks like a terraced field. It was very well maintained. However...it's in a place where you have to climb to go to the toilet because it's at the top. There was also a washing area, which I thought was very convenient.
