Beppu has been a town that has long been close to the grace of hot springs. The scene of hot steam, known as hell, has become the stage for the legend of Sushizume. Kamado Jigoku is a precious place that preserves the remnants of that. Hot spring water at 98 degrees gushes from the ground, creating a scenery as if it were the entrance of hell.
At Kamado Jigoku, you can enjoy experiential corners that make use of the hot steam of hell. You can warm your hands and feet, drink throat-soothing hot spring water, and experience the power of hell with your five senses. You will also be surprised by the steam experiment born from the core smoke. It's also a good idea to take commemorative photos at the photo spots decorated with seasonal decorations.
At the shop, you will find specialty gourmet dishes made using hot springs. You can fully enjoy the grace of Beppu, with dishes such as soy sauce pudding with a firm texture and Ishigaki manju with the aroma of matcha. While surrounded by the vibrant atmosphere of commerce, why not look for the perfect souvenir for your travel memories?
Kamado Jigoku is located about 30 minutes by bus from Beppu Station. The entrance fee is 450 yen for adults and 200 yen for children. The opening hours are from 8:00 to 17:00, open year-round. With a free parking lot, you can easily stop by. Please be sure to indulge in the powerful sight of the hot spring gushing out of hell.
