Enjo-ji is a small temple nestled in the mountains of Awaji Island, but it is known as a hidden spot for cherry blossoms in spring. As you climb the approach, you will find a beautiful cherry blossom tunnel. As you walk along the moss-covered cobblestone approach, you will feel as if you are walking on a carpet of cherry blossom petals.
The road to Enjo-ji is a bit hard to find and requires passing through narrow mountain roads. You need to be careful of oncoming vehicles, but it is easy to stop by on a motorcycle. If you are driving, it is wise to park and explore on foot. It is about a 30-minute drive from the center of Awaji city, and the access is not bad at all.
The climate of Awaji Island is gentle, and cherry blossoms tend to bloom relatively early within the prefecture. From mid to late March, you can enjoy plump buds. By April, the gorgeous full bloom of cherry blossoms will adorn the precincts. You can enjoy cherry blossom viewing a little earlier and feel the arrival of spring.
