Sakazori Station is a modest station in Kofu, Yamanashi Prefecture. However, its role is significant as it serves as a bridge between Yamanashi Gakuin University and the historical sites related to the Warring States period.
The biggest feature of Sakazori Station is that it is the nearest station to the adjacent Yamanashi Gakuin University. The bustling sight of students coming and going creates vitality. The bicycle parking lot near the south entrance is always crowded with bicycles, and there are also cafes and convenience stores scattered around the station.
On the other hand, the quiet streets near the north entrance lead to the place associated with the Kai clan's Kobayama family in Kai Zenkoji Temple. There is the grave of Kobayama Nobushige at Kai Zenkoji Temple, and within walking distance, there are also Sakazori Shrine and historical sites related to Yasuda Yoshisada. It is a place where the atmosphere that makes you feel the history still remains.
Despite the aging appearance, renovation work is underway, and a new wind is blowing in. The access from Kofu Station is good, and it is easy to take a taxi to visit the surrounding tourist spots during free time.
Sakazori Station is a small but unique place that combines the charm of the university and history. Without being misled by its appearance, you can notice the diverse and hidden charm inside.
