I came to climb Mt. Chokai during the flower garden season, but due to heavy rain, I had to change my plans to stay at Hokotate Sanso for one night (I had originally planned to stay at the mountaintop hut).
After arriving, I asked for an additional futon to be rented, and was provided with a fluffy futon, clean sheets, and pillowcases. It seemed like the sheets for the comforter were shared, so if you're concerned about that, please use the inner sheets.
I think the Japanese-style room on the 1st floor was a 10 tatami two-room adjoining room, and the 2nd floor had 4 rooms for 4 people with bunk beds facing each other.
There were only two of us staying due to heavy rain, so each of us had the luxury of using a 10 tatami Japanese-style room.
There are only Japanese-style flush toilets, but there is a Western-style flush toilet in the building next door.
Even though the toilet in the hut was Japanese style, it didn't smell at all and was very clean.
I was allowed to use the shower the next day after descending from Mt. Chokai. Shampoo and body soap provided.
The kitchen has detergent and water. The bathroom also has tangerine net soap on the faucet, so you can brush your teeth.
The common room is also equipped with a refrigerator that users can use freely. You can also see each TV station.
If you are cooking for yourself, you can buy alcohol at the Inakura Sanso next door, and it is OK to throw away the items you purchase at the Inakura Sanso in the trash can at the Inakura Sanso, so if you are going to buy alcohol, I recommend going to the shop at the Sanso instead of buying it downstairs. Chokaisan (Japanese sake) is properly available.
Hokotate Sanso also has trash cans, but we took our own trash home with us (we asked for your cooperation).
I was able to deposit any baggage I didn't need for climbing in the corner of the common room, so my luggage was much lighter and lighter.
There seemed to be a number of managers working on day and night shifts, but they were all very smiling and kind.
To get to Hokotate Sanso, I used the ``Mt. Chokai Taxi Package'' from Yamagata Prefecture, and it was a one-hour taxi ticket from Sakata Station to Hokotate Sanso.
If two or more people stay at a designated inn in Yamagata Prefecture, they will receive two 1-hour taxi tickets, which was a great deal.
So, up until now, I had not had a chance to climb Mt. Chokai due to poor access, but when I came, it was so amazing that I decided to visit again!

2,000 yen for a clean futon set and room without meals
There were some people who gave a low opinion about the water.
It's a mountain hut with no running water, so we were told in advance that there was no water, so it was natural.
However, I have prepared some for you to use if you are in trouble.
I think he is a very kind administrator.
He also did his part to clean the public toilet next door.
It's mostly volunteer work.
I'm full of gratitude
Definitely recommended if you are thinking about sleeping in your car.

The managers were also friendly and kind.
The room and hallway were very clean, and the futon was also clean.
Even though it was so cheap, I had a very comfortable and relaxing time.
thank you
